The Software
The benchKeeper software suite is a modular, distributed, secure, Java-based software package developed to manage specific everyday laboratory reagents.
These reagents include plasmid DNA's, oligonucleotides, antibodies, cryogenic samples, and protocols. There is also a module that assists in the management of animal experiments.
The
benchKeeper suite contains 6 modules:
antibodyKeeper
cryoKeeper
dnaKeeper
oligoKeeper
protocolKeeper
ratKeeper
Included by default is the Administration module, which allows you to add/edit/delete users and groups, as well as configure and monitor the server.
Deployment Methods
benchKeeper has a client and a server component. A user can run
benchKeeper in "standalone" mode, where both the client and server are run as one single component on their local machine. Alternatively, the client and server components can be run on different machines. In this environment, a single machine in a lab can run the server component, and multiple users can run the client independently on their own machines.
